Japanese Exam and Close to an Accident

I studied really hard for my Japanese written exam. It was held today, and I did pretty good. Waiting for the results now...

I also got a job. I'll take over my bro's job and I'm reaaaaally looking forward to it.

Third: About 3 weeks ago, a car hit me when I was riding home on my bicycle. Stupid jerk!!!

I went home from university by bike. These days there are many building lots I pass by, so the streets would be narrow and with a bike you have to move inbetween a swarm of cars that seem to move in an intent to kill you. Ha, the smell of risk, that's what makes the trip exciting day after day..

While I go down the long, two-lane street that leads to my area I am usually overtaken by many cars. Some of them try their best to stay away from me so that they won't get in my way, some others see me as a kind of obstruction and pass by so closely that I almost feel like I'm touched by them.

That particular day, when I had been on my way to university, a truck overtook me and got back to the right lane too soon - if I had not pushed my brakes as hard as I could, it would have rammed me into the cars that were parking on the right side. Fortunately I reacted quickly enough, but my luck wouldn't last for the whole day.

Back to the start: So I was on my way home, going on the right lane, when I sensed a car very closely behind me, the draught felt so close. The next thing I realised was that something smashed into my elbow, pushing the bike's handlebars to the right (where there were rails - so I would have fallen right on the street if I hit them). A car had hit me with the side-mirror and continued to drive to the right. Instinctively I forced the bars back to the left to prevent falling, but as the car's window came closer and closer the handle just bumped into the window. The man who drove the car still continued to the right and with the rear he bumped into my leg. It was only luck that prevented me from falling really badly, right before a car that would probably not have been able to brake before it would hit me.

I was totally perplexed for a moment and couldn't believe that guy went on as if nothing had happened. It was only then that I realized that there was a bike behind me, and the man riding it had seen everything and yelled at the car driver. At the next red light, that came short after, he was waiting there and I passed him by and yelled into his open window, though I don't remember what exactly I said. Surprisingly the driver didn't seem to hear a thing and was extremely busy looking at something on his left. The man behind me yelled at the driver as well, and I thanked him for his compassion.

It took me some more minutes to really understand what had just happened and I got more and more furious. Things like that should not happen. Even if the streets are narrow, even if you feel like you have to go really fast, that man put me in danger on purpose and I hated that. I mean, technically unless you can guarantee a distance of 1.5m between your car and a bike you are NOT ALLOWED to overtake it. Even though I agree that 1.5m is quite a lot and I don't complain if cars get closer to me than that, it was impossible for that man to "miscalculate" the distance in such an extreme way. He simply didn't care that I was there. People like that should not be allowed to drive in my opinion. If you ride a car, you have to be careful. You must not lose your temper just because you want to get somewhere really quickly. You must be able to overview crowdy situations and stay calm. If you can't do that, then you are not suitable for driving. Everyone can make mistakes, but that man overdid it.

My head figured out different ways for me to punish him, and as he was gone anyway i gave in to my fantasies completely. Not that it was something extremely evil that I wanted to do to him, but I did think about something like passing by his car making a biiiig scratch in the laxquer on the whole side, from the rear to the front, with my keys. Or, if I had had something heavy to throw, I would have loved to smash one of his windows.

Ahh, that would have been so nice, but of course I did no such thing.

Maybe I should consider myself lucky for getting out of the whole thing without a scratch, but I was actually disappointed that I wouldn't have had any proof if I called the police (as I didn't get hurt, it really wouldn't have been grave enough to call the cops...) and I would have loved to see him explain himself to a man in green.

I hope that I've had my share of car-hugging for a while now.
