"Production of a Music Video", hey, how cool can it get?
In my mind, I had already thought about some great things you could do, like what kind of music, what kind of cool scenery.....
Turns out I had no idea about the true intentions of the course. I mean, despite the fact that we will indeed produce a music video.
I had imagined us to seperate into little groups and work on a concept, film, do the sound, cut, present and stuff....
In fact, we are going to do a serious and professional production of a music video for a 5-man-orchestra. The whole group of people was divided into producers, directors, sound directors, filmers, cutters, making-of video producers, dvd designers......We'll be filming the orchestra on the pentecost weekend, several times when they are alone in the room, and another time when they are going to perform in front of an audience at night.
Anyway, back to the task management: I decided for producer. If I have to do this, I'm gonna be the boss! Wooooooop!
My friend and another guy, who seems pretty nice, are going to be my partners on the mission. Our first task: Collect everyone's name and e-mail address, take a photo of everyone. Then make a mailing list and mail a document to them in which everyone's photo is shown with their names. Just so that we will know who the others are.
Easy as pie, right?
Weeeeell, more or less, it was. I was just so unbelievably pissed when there was one girl (sounded italian, but spoke a reasonably good German) like "Oh no, please don't take a photo of me, I'll send one via mail."
And I just thought "What kind of bitch are you?"
Honestly, this is not a beauty contest. Honey, if it were, you wouldn't even make the finals. That's ok, deal with it. We just need a damn photo so that people will recognize you and not shout "Yo, Slutty Spaghetti, over here!"
Maybe I'll call her like that, just in my head, from now on. She deserves it. Ridiculous wannabe It-Girl.
Luckily, all the other girls were not complicated at all. Great. That's how I like it.
There was also a man who did not want a photo taken either. Yes, before I wrote about a GIRL. Now I write about a MAN. Not a boy, a man. He is at least 40 years old.
Definitely too old to be a student at a university, but it's not the first time I've seen him in one of my classes. So he must be a student at TU or UdK, even though I don't like that.... He looks like a freak. And I mean the bad kind of freak. When I tried to take a photo of him (didn't know yet that he didn't want that) he covered his face with his writing pad.
Got it?
A man who is 40+ is behaving like a little Korean girl from Tokai University and hates the thought of being photographed, my god, GROW UP!!! What a retard. Not any better than the Italian jerk girl. Just that, as I said, she would not last till the beauty contest's final round, he wouldn't even make the preliminaries.
What I really liked (spot the irony....) : When the class was over, he came over to me and asked me what my part in the production would be, so I said I was going to be one of the producers, and he was all like "Wow, that's like the busiest of all the jobs." And I thought Yeaaahhh, talk to the hand, gramps.
And then he said, as I was so very important (the producers are the ones who are supposed to coordinate everything, so basically, we are like the center that puts the pieces together, and so we are the ones who have to be informed about everything all the time), he'd like my e-mail-address in advance (= before they would be sent out in a list to everyone in.... 3 days....). I gave it to him, I mean, he's going to have it in 3 days anyway, so I don't care. But it was so strange, I was really curious why that old man needs my contact data so desperately BEFORE the weekend, not afterwards.
Waiting for his sweet "Hi, I just wanted to make sure this address is correct, so, ahm, how are you?" Mail. Wretched.
So it looks like I have, once again, landed my butt deeeeply in the jam of TU Freak Show©....
The two "teachers", an animation movie maker (m) and a sound engineer (f), are ... interesting. The guy looks kinda relaxed, though he's very clearly "creative branch". She looks too old to dress the way she does and is all the natural woman type. I'd love to give her some of my mascara, oooh, I'm a big meanie! To me they seemed like people who really like to talk things through (chat for hours) before they actually do something. Not bad, all in all, but I like things to be done. Just done. Fast.
What I loved was how they told us, several times, how honoured we could be that those musicians would play for us and give us the chance to produce the video, as they wouldn't receive any money for that.
Ha, I laughed innerly. It might be true that they receive no money for their performance, but let's face it: We'll pay the room in which they'll play, we'll have a catering, organize them a party for the evening (so they will at least get food and drinks) and..... they get a professional music video. To be precise: Five. They'll play five pieces and we'll make a video for each one. It will be in professional quality, as the project is supervised by professionals.
They might not receive money, but they'll get those videos for free use on their web space and so on. Normally, this would cost them thousands of Euros, now it only costs them one day of, all in all, practising their live act.
Yeah, thank you so much, great orchestra!
I'd rather call this a win-win-situation. Both parties get what they want, so where's the problem?
I'm really curious about those musicians. The sound engineers group got a special admission to WRITE e-mails to them, concerning the positioning and type of the microphones. But they are told to write short mails, after all, the musicians have their schedule.
Although I understand the fear of those musicians, that some chit-chat-jerk might send them extremely long and boring time-consuming letters, I thought it was pretty rude to make such a statement. As I see it, we are going to do them a favour, not the other way round.
They made it look like we'd better lick their shoes to make this work. Hah, you just wait!
The only thing THIS girl's gonna lick is LOLLIPOPS!!!!
Da bekommt doch der Begriff "Deppenkonzert" eine ganz neue Bedeutung ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha,ooooh ja.
